All of a sudden i saw sociology when i was hanging out with my family and friends yesterday for my birthday. They all came together at my house and we had a little dinner. My family is always always going to give me emotional support and encourage conformity. We always have get together at each other houses on the weekends. So we do see each other a lot. I would consider them a Primary Group because of all this.
My friends that were there too i would consider them as my Primary Group as well. They are always there for me whenever i need them. And they are just here to give me emotional support and all the other supports there are. You could say that there is cooperation between us because we all combine efforts to achieve any goal we want to achieve. We are always positive no matter what !
In reality were all part of some group. Whether we want to be or not. And you may not even know about it :]

A guy like Princess & Pink ? What ?!
When people read that some little boy likes Princess instead of Spider Man or Bat Man, they make sexist comments and they just think bad about the kid right away. I mean whats so wrong about a little boy liking Princess? Little girls can like Spider Man and people don't say anything, they don't see anything wrong with it. So why is it such a bad thing that a little boy likes Princess?
When i finished reading the article i was kind of like speechless. I mean first of all hes just a little boy, what is he going to know about what hes supposed to wear and what hes not. But then like he later understood. He wanted to dress up as a Princess for Halloween but when Halloween got closer he kind of got the point that little boys are not supposed to wear girly costumes. They need to wear more manly costumes. I felt bad for the little boy, because he cant be what he really desires to be.

All of a Sudden ...
All of a sudden, i found my self thinking sociologically when i was in school walking down the hallways. In our school there is a lot of PDA. And i mean A LOT of it ! Yea it is okay to hold hands and give each other huggs and even a peck its fine. But once you sit there and make out and have a tongue war, umm that's a little too much. Do that on your own time, not in school.
In class the other day we were talking about how in the US our culture is very different from other country's culture. What we think is okay other country's might not. For example in one country if you do the O.K sign that sign in their country means F-you. Also if we do the Peace sign in another country that means the same. Our culture and what we do is very different from others.
So in our country giving a kiss on the cheek seems okay, right ? Well maybe in our country it is but in India, it is not allowed ! If you do such a thing you can get fined ! and you can go to jail. Scary isn't it. Richard Gere was accused of coming a crime you could say, for kissing Kirna Mohra. And just kissing her on the cheeks. The country didn't like that and they fined him $12 and they issued a warrant for Gere's arrest.
This goes to show you that our cultures and how we Americans see things differently from others. To us a kiss on the cheek can even be because your being polite, greeting someone. I mean High Schoolers practically eat each other in the hallways, and in India that is unacceptable.

Symbols

This picture of an advertise of Dolce & Gabbana shows that advertising is too sexy now. The company of Dolce & Gabbana are saying "Sex sells!" So they try to pose their models in a sexy way and try to make the picture look hot so they can make you think that you could look like that.
This picture say that us Americans do not have to say word by word the way we are feeling. We can just show an expression and people will know how were feeling.
McDonald's means that people can go to their fast food restaurant through the Drive Thru at any moment they feel like eating a Big Mac. It shows that people sometimes are too busy with work, school, sports, anything to stop by at their house and make something to eat.

All of a Sudden ...
All of a sudden i found my self thinking sociologically when i was watching Jersey Shore on tv. In Sociology we were talking about Culture and Language. And we had a discussion about how us Americans made the English language shorter and we over use some words too much. For example "like" "ummm" "uuhh" and "so". Of course there is more but this words are the ones that we hear the most.
So as i was watching Jersey Shore, i decided to sit down and count how many times they said "like" "umm" "uhh" and "so". Well they said "like" about 50 times. They said "umm" about 5 times, "uhh" about 5 and "so" about 5 also. I might of missed some but i mean that is a lot of likes umms and uhhs if you ask me.
Our language is getting worse by the minute. But i guess there is nothing we can do for now.
Just listen to the people go on saying "like" about 20 times in one sentence. :D

Bemused in America
The article that i examined is called Watching Joggers. The journalist that wrote this is from Munich, Germany. His name is Stefan Schirmer. So while he was out here in Chicago, he noticed that people would be running for no reason. He thought it was strange because they werent going any where, they were not chaising after anything, they would just run.
He probably thought this was weird because at his country he says that if people are going to sweat from getting a workout why do it alone? They would rather have fun doing it with other people. For example playing soccer. He says that its better to run after a soccer ball then running to nowhere and back.

All of A Sudden . . .
All of a sudden, i found myself thinking sociologically when i was at the mall with one of my girls and her friend, this weekend. My friend and i were at Vanity and we were just looking for clothes, you know doing what girls do at the mall lol. So when we were at Vanity, three girls walked in there. They weren't ugly or fat or anything. They looked normal i mean they looked like innocent people. People that would never do anything wrong. So we were by the jewelry section and the three girls went by there, and so were these two other girls. So we were just looking and all of a sudden one of the girls that was in the group of three broke the seal from the necklace off and put in in her purse. We all saw it and we didn't say anything. They also took other things. But before they left the store the two other people that saw went and told the girls that worked at the store. I don't know what happened to them because i left before i could see what happened.
This situation reminded me of a project we had to do in class. On what would people do if they say someone stealing things from someone else that you didn't know. And i guess there is some people that would stop others from stealing :D
